As the Sweet Discoveries event wraps up, Pokémon Go is gearing up for the majestic Crown Clash event—royalty is taking over the world of Pokémon! From May 10th to 18th, Trainers will have the chance to evolve the powerful Kingambit, encounter regally dressed Pokémon, and enjoy boosted evolution rewards, including double XP for evolving Pokémon.
Kingambit, the Big Blade Pokémon, will make its highly anticipated debut during this event. To obtain it, you’ll need to evolve Bisharp—but there’s a special requirement. Set Bisharp as your Buddy Pokémon, then defeat 15 Dark- or Steel-type Pokémon in Raid Battles. Bisharp doesn’t need to participate in the battles—just having it as your buddy while you win raids will fulfill the condition.
Adding to the royal festivities are costumed versions of Nidoqueen and Nidoking, both adorned with elegant crowns. Keep your eyes peeled—Shiny variants of these crowned Pokémon may also appear! These special appearances will be featured in three-star Raids, while one-star Raids will include Sneasel, Klink, and Pawniard.
In the wild, you can expect increased spawns of Slowpoke (which may drop a King’s Rock), Slakoth, Piplup, Combee, Snivy, and Litleo. Pawniard will also appear more frequently, giving you extra opportunities to catch and evolve it.

With double XP for evolving Pokémon, now is the perfect time to tackle your evolution backlog. Complete event-themed Field Research tasks and participate in the catch-and-evolve Collection Challenge to earn bonus XP, Stardust, and additional chances to encounter Pawniard. Trainers at Level 31 and above will receive guaranteed Candy XL upon completing the Collection Challenge.
