MiHoYo has teased a brand-new Honkai game that hints at a Pokémon-like experience. Dive in to uncover more about what was showcased in the trailer and explore the possibility of it being the rumored Honkai Nexus Anima.
Brand-New Honkai Game Teased
Possibly a Pokémon-like Game
MiHoYo recently unveiled their next game, spotlighting beloved characters from their Honkai universe. During the Honkai Star Rail’s Concert livestream on May 4, a 20-second teaser was released, featuring Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd and Blade from Honkai: Star Rail, both seen commanding creatures and monsters in battle.
The teaser suggests that the gameplay could lean towards a Pokémon-like battle system, an auto-chess strategy, or involve monster-collecting mechanics. This concept isn’t unexpected, as both Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail have introduced creatures and critters that have captivated fans, potentially inspiring the developers to create a game focused on them.
In Genshin Impact, players can capture monsters for their Serenitea Pot, the game's player housing system, and participate in events like the "Fabulous Fungus Frenzy," where they capture Fungus and compete in a beast tamer tournament.
Similarly, Honkai Star Rail hosted the "Aetherium Wars" event, using its turn-based mechanics with monsters as partners, echoing Pokémon’s core concept.
The teaser ends with silhouettes of various characters from the Honkai series, including a possible appearance of Aventurine from Star Rail. Described as a "brand-new Honkai Game," fans are hopeful for the inclusion of Genshin Impact characters as well. Though details remain sparse, the trailer indicates that characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail will be featured.
Is this Honkai Nexus Anima?
Speculation is rife that this new game could be the rumored Honkai Nexus Anima, recently trademarked by miHoYo. The timing of the trademark and the teaser fuels these theories, although the trademark filing itself offered little in the way of specifics.
Further fueling speculation, job listings from HoYoVerse in September 2024, as reported by Enduins Gaming, hinted at multiple projects under development. These included "Character Concept Art (Anthropomorphic Animals)" for a chibi-style life simulation and "Scene Concept Art – Honkai IP Pre-research" for fantasy spirit companions.
Given miHoYo's confirmation that the teased game is a new Honkai title, many fans believe it could be Honkai Nexus Anima. However, without an official announcement, these remain fan theories.
The teaser has sparked more questions than answers about the game's true nature and whether it is indeed Honkai Nexus Anima. Nonetheless, miHoYo fans have much to anticipate. With the company's track record, this new game promises to deliver a unique and engaging experience.
