Hearthstone has officially unveiled detailed information about the eagerly anticipated Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, which is set to launch on January 21. This Mini-Set, boasting a record-breaking 49 new cards, marks the largest in Hearthstone's history. The cards are split between class-specific cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique neutral Legendary card.
The initial announcement of Heroes of StarCraft came during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, as part of the crossover event between Hearthstone and Blizzard's beloved yet underappreciated science fiction RTS game, StarCraft. At the time, only basic details were shared, with a promise of more information post-new year.
Now, exactly two months later, Hearthstone has provided a comprehensive look at this micro expansion. Heroes of StarCraft will introduce 49 brand-new cards – 11 more than the typical Mini-Set. Each Hearthstone class will receive three cards, while the three StarCraft factions (Zerg, Protoss, and Terran) are represented by five cards each, one of which is a Legendary. Additionally, the Mini-Set includes a neutral Legendary card named Grunty. Hearthstone has already showcased some of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the week leading up to the release.
Hearthstone Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set Release Date
- January 21
The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize summoning numerous Zerglings and using the Hydralisk to amplify damage based on the swarm's size. The Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation, allowing for early deployment of powerful cards like the Carrier. The Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from the Starship mechanic introduced in Hearthstone's The Great Dark Beyond set, with new Starship Pieces, strategies for launching multiple Starships, and a special Mech-themed Starship.
Despite the excitement, the larger size of Heroes of StarCraft comes with a higher price tag. While the cards can be obtained from The Great Dark Beyond packs, players can purchase a complete playset of the Heroes of StarCraft cards for $20 or 2500 gold – an increase of $5 and 500 gold over standard Hearthstone Mini-Sets. The all-Golden version is available for $80 or 12,000 gold, compared to the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. However, players can opt to buy faction-specific packs for $10 or 1200 gold.
To celebrate the Mini-Set's launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events: StarCast on January 23 at 10 AM PST, featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 playing with the new cards, and HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST, where Hearthstone community creators will represent each faction in matches and mini-games. Viewers can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by watching these events on Twitch, so fans should tune in to not miss out on these free rewards.
