GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

The future of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) on PC remains unconfirmed, but recent statements from Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, suggest a potential PC release down the line. Dive into the latest developments and what this could mean for GTA 6's future.

GTA 6 on PC: Unconfirmed, Yet Teased

GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

While Grand Theft Auto 6 has not been officially announced for PC, hints from Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, during an interview with IGN on February 10, 2025, suggest that a PC version could be on the horizon. Zelnick highlighted that their upcoming title, Civilization 7, will launch on both console and PC, but noted that Rockstar Games typically rolls out their titles on different platforms sequentially.

Historically, this pattern is evident with GTA 5, which debuted on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally on PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, with a PC release following in November 2019.

Although no concrete confirmation has been given for GTA 6 on PC, Zelnick's comments imply a strong interest in eventually bringing the game to the platform. Fans had hoped for a simultaneous PC launch, given the game's anticipated scale, but it seems they may need to wait a bit longer.

Take-Two's Confidence in GTA 6's Multiplatform Success

Zelnick emphasized the growing significance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can account for up to 40% of total sales. He expressed optimism about the PC's increasing role in what was traditionally a console-dominated market, stating, "We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue."

Despite reports of declining console sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick remains confident in GTA 6's potential to boost console sales. He believes that major titles like GTA 6 can drive console sales, saying, "When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles."

He further added, "And I think that will happen this year. I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC."

GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though no specific date has been announced. Keep an eye on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates.

More Take-Two and Rockstar Games on Switch 2?

GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

During the Take-Two Interactive Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick expressed enthusiasm about bringing their games to the upcoming Switch 2 console. He noted their long-standing relationship with Nintendo and their willingness to support the platform when it aligns with their release strategy.

Zelnick pointed out that the Switch's audience has evolved beyond just younger gamers, stating, "the Switch device can support any audience." With Civilization 7 already confirmed for the Switch, he added, "As you may have noted, Civilization 7 is now on Switch. So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."
