NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. The use of adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the unfair competitive advantage provided by increased control precision and maintained aim assist.
NetEase employs sophisticated detection tools to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account suspensions upon detection. The company states that these devices create an uneven playing field, particularly in competitive game modes.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While this might be less noticeable with consistently low ping, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms can significantly impact gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Until a patch addresses this, players are advised to experiment with finding an optimal FPS/ping balance, with some suggesting maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution.
