Following the thrilling encounters in Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this new installment transports readers back to a classic era. The story unfolds after the events of 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. A post-Battleworld Peter Parker, still adjusting to the alien symbiote, faces his greatest challenge yet: the King of the Monsters.
Written by Joe Kelly (the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch), and illustrated by Nick Bradshaw (with cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land), Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 promises a spectacular blend of action and '80s nostalgia.
"The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped for it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book is pure fun, showcasing two legendary characters amidst the chaotic energy of that era. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his awesome black suit!) the respect they deserve. It's a love letter with a monstrous roar!"
This isn't the first superhero-Godzilla crossover; DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (and its sequel) featured the MonsterVerse versions. Marvel's series, however, focuses on Toho's classic Godzilla. This announcement follows the unveiling of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 stomps onto the scene April 30, 2025. For more comic book news, check out Marvel's and DC's 2025 plans.
