Microsoft has announced that Forza Horizon 6, the next installment in its popular racing franchise, will take place in Japan and launch in 2026.
The reveal was made in an Instagram post that went live just hours before the major Xbox Tokyo Game Show presentation.
The post includes a short teaser confirming the setting and release window. "The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan," the caption states. "Coming 2026. Wishlist now!" Logos indicate the game will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title and, as expected, will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Although today's announcement appears to have been published slightly ahead of schedule, the details are not entirely unexpected. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer had previously confirmed a new Forza title was planned for 2026. Following recent layoffs that reportedly impacted the Forza Motorsport team, speculation pointed toward the next release being a Forza Horizon game.
Fans have long anticipated a Japanese setting for the series, especially after a suggestive social media post last month from a car import company linked to the franchise.
