An Elden Ring player, chickensandwich420, has undertaken a unique challenge: battling the notoriously difficult boss, Messmer the Impaler, daily until the release of the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign.
This self-imposed marathon began on December 16, 2024, and involves defeating Messmer each day using a different weapon, achieving a flawless, no-hit victory on NG+7. Initially planning a broader challenge encompassing various FromSoftware bosses, chickensandwich420's university studies led him to focus on this single, grueling task.
Messmer's difficulty is well-documented, with players reporting numerous attempts before success. Chickensandwich420's commitment is therefore a significant undertaking.
However, the challenge has a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, chickensandwich420 will pivot to other games. This sets a limit of approximately 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone, three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. The success of chickensandwich420's epic Messmer challenge hinges on Nightreign's timely arrival.
