How Diamondback Works in Marvel Snap
Diamondback is a 3-cost, 3-power card with the ability: “Ongoing: Enemy cards here afflicted with negative Power have an additional -2 Power.” This creates potent synergy with Marvel Snap's many negative-effect cards, such as U.S. Agent and Man-Thing. Scorpion, Hazmat, Cassandra Nova, Scream, Bullseye, and others also boost her effectiveness. Ideally, you'll hit at least two cards with her Ongoing effect, transforming her into a 7-power threat.
However, be aware that Luke Cage completely negates her power, rendering her useless. Enchantress and Rogue can also significantly diminish her impact.
Best Diamondback Decks in Marvel Snap
Despite her seemingly niche ability, Diamondback surprisingly fits into several competitive decks, including Scream Move, Toxic Ajax, High Evolutionary, and Bullseye Discard. She excels particularly in Toxic Ajax and High Evolutionary decks, which share many similarities. Let's examine two distinct deck examples: Scream Move and Toxic Ajax.
Scream Move Deck:
Kingpin, Scream, Kraven, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Spider-Man, Diamondback, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Polaris, Doom 2099, Aero, Doctor Doom, Magneto. [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
Scream and Rocket Raccoon & Groot are crucial for this deck's success. If you lack Sam Wilson, consider replacing him with another affliction card like Scorpion. The strategy revolves around manipulating opponent's cards with Kingpin and Scream, while Diamondback secures a lane advantage. The second half of the deck utilizes a Doom 2099 package for late-game power plays.
Toxic Ajax Deck:
Silver Sable, Hazmat, U.S. Agent, Luke Cage, Rogue, Diamondback, Red Guardian, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Malekith, Anti-Venom, Man-Thing, Ajax. [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This deck, while expensive, is incredibly powerful. The goal is to maximize Ajax's power using various affliction cards. Sometimes, strategically avoiding Luke Cage can further enhance Ajax's strength. Malekith provides power spikes, and Anti-Venom offers a surprise late-game boost. Rogue serves as a counter to Luke Cage, a significant threat to this deck.
Is Diamondback Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?
If you already own most affliction-based cards for an Ajax deck or frequently utilize Scream, Diamondback is a worthwhile addition. However, if you avoid affliction decks or lack essential cards like Scream and Rocket Raccoon & Groot, she's best skipped due to her limited utility outside of expensive, specialized decks.
