Hideo Kojima took the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX, to unveil an exciting new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and confirm its release date. The game is set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Fans who opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will enjoy early access starting June 24.
The captivating 10-minute trailer showcases a mix of cinematic sequences and gameplay footage, with a special focus on a character named Neil, portrayed by Italian actor Luca Marinelli. Fans are buzzing about Neil's resemblance to the iconic Snake from Kojima's renowned Metal Gear series. Neil is seen donning a bandana, reminiscent of Snake, and leading a squad of eerie soldiers, wielding an assault rifle.
The trailer further enhances the Metal Gear vibes with the introduction of the Magellan Man, a massive tar-like creature combined with the DHV Magellan, reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex. The Magellan Man, operated like a Pacific Rim-style mech, battles against gigantic and unsettling tar monsters. The Collector's Edition includes a 15" statue of the Magellan Man.
Pricing details include the standard edition at $69.99, the Collector's Edition at $229.99, and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99. Pre-orders are set to begin on March 17.
