PlayStation made the exciting announcement via a Twitter (X) post on April 29, confirming that the Borderlands 4 State of Play will kick off on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. According to a post on the PlayStation.blog dated April 29, viewers can expect over 20 minutes of developer-guided gameplay, showcasing missions, killer weapons, thrilling Action Skills, as well as new and returning characters.
Surprise Launch Date Shift to September 12
In a surprising turn of events, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford took to Twitter (X) on April 29 to announce that Borderlands 4 would now launch on September 12, moving up from its previously announced date of September 23. Although Pitchford quickly deleted the initial video and followed up with a tweet stating the announcement was premature, the new launch date was later confirmed by Borderlands 4's official Twitter (X) account.
In his video, Pitchford expressed enthusiasm about the game's development, stating, "everything’s going kinda the best scenario." This positive progress has led to the decision to bring Borderlands 4 to fans earlier than planned. The official Borderlands 4 Twitter (X) post elaborated on the decision, saying, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
Gearbox Software is promising to deliver the greatest Borderlands experience yet, and with the release date now set for September 12, 2025, fans can look forward to exploring the new planet of Kairos sooner than expected.
