The Bloodborne community's fervent desire for a remastered edition of FromSoftware's acclaimed title has reached fever pitch following recent Instagram activity.
Fueling the Bloodborne Remaster Hype: Instagram's Role
A Beloved Classic Deserves a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically lauded RPG released in 2015, remains a fan favorite. Many players eagerly anticipate revisiting the gothic city of Yharnam on modern consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia showcasing the game have ignited speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images featuring the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One depicted Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others showcased the player character exploring Yharnam's heart and the Charnel Lane graveyards.
Although these posts could simply be a nostalgic throwback, dedicated Bloodborne fans on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for clues hinting at a long-awaited remaster. The timing, particularly with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has only amplified the anticipation.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location. The comments section is filled with pleas for a Yharnam return on PC or modern consoles.
The Hunt Continues: Almost a Decade of Waiting
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a fiercely loyal fanbase, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as one of gaming's greats. Yet, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent. However, the lengthy wait for that remake fuels concerns that Bloodborne might face a similar extended delay. As the game approaches its tenth anniversary, the anticipation is palpable.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the potential benefits of remastering the game for modern hardware, emphasizing increased accessibility for a wider audience.
While Miyazaki's comments offer a spark of hope, the final decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring (fully owned by FromSoftware), Bloodborne's publishing rights are held by Sony. Miyazaki has stated in other interviews that he's unable to comment directly on the matter due to IP ownership.
Bloodborne's passionate fanbase continues to hope for a remaster. Despite its success, Sony hasn't expanded the game beyond the PS4. Whether the current speculation translates into reality remains to be seen.
