The beloved animated series is making a comeback. Seth MacFarlane’s American Dad is set to return to Fox, officially scheduled for its second debut on the network in 2026, alongside fresh episodes of MacFarlane’s other popular show, Family Guy.
The return of both series for the midseason is a nostalgic reunion, as they originally aired on Fox from 2005 to 2014 before shifting to TBS until earlier this year. American Dad and Family Guy are key components of Fox’s strategy to maintain a strong presence in primetime television.
“Building on our success in key demographics and shared viewing this season, Fox’s 2025-26 lineup delivers irreverent humor, entertainment, and joy,” said Rob Wade, CEO of Fox Entertainment, in a statement reported by Variety. “Next year, we’re committed to bringing that vision to life with an exciting schedule for our audiences across linear, Hulu, and more.”

Fox is rolling out ambitious plans for its upcoming programming, including the launch of its new streaming platform, Fox One. According to a network press release, Fox One will integrate news, sports, and entertainment content, offering both live streaming and on-demand access to Fox’s full range of brands, with the option to bundle Fox Nation on the same platform.
While American Dad’s exact premiere date for its Fox revival remains unconfirmed, fans are eagerly awaiting its return (and humming its iconic theme song). The show is also expected to be available on Fox One, with further details to be announced next year.
