Big news for fans of the Now You See Me series: not only has the third installment been officially titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, but a fourth film is also in development. This exciting announcement was made by Adam Fogelson, the chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, during CinemaCon. He also confirmed that Now You See Me 3 is still slated for release on November 14, 2025.
Ruben Fleischer, who directed Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, has signed on to develop and direct the fourth film in the action-heist franchise. The series has already grossed an impressive $700 million worldwide. The first two films featured stars like Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman. The third installment will introduce a new generation of illusionists, including Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt, with Rosamund Pike also joining the cast.
Fleischer, who previously worked with Eisenberg and Harrelson in his debut film Zombieland, has also directed successful films like Uncharted, which earned over $400 million globally, and Venom, which brought in more than $850 million worldwide. Bobby Cohen, the original developer and producer of the series, will return to produce the new installment alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
Adam Fogelson praised Fleischer's work, saying, "Ruben has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and are thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us."
Fleischer expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career. It combines two of my favorite things — heist movies and magic — and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course, I want to keep it going."
IGN's reviews of the previous films were less enthusiastic. The first Now You See Me received a 6.3/10, with IGN commenting, "Now You See Me seemed so promising, but it squanders its cool cast and nifty premise on smarmy, shallow characters and a flimsy, nonsensical plot." The sequel, Now You See Me 2, scored a 6.2, with IGN stating, "Now You See Me 2 isn't the worst magic act in town, but it's all flash and no substance."
With the franchise expanding and Fleischer at the helm, fans can look forward to more thrilling magic and heist action in the near future.
