The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) has launched an exciting spelling app for kids aged 4 to 9, perfect for mastering spelling in a fun way. Sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), the KCNK Little Bee Game is an offline app that offers three engaging modes: Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, and Competition Mode, each containing 10 levels with progressively longer words.
In Learning Mode 1, children learn by tapping letters in order to spell words. The app pronounces each letter, helping kids practice their pronunciation. If a mistake is made, it can be easily corrected, and the word can be replayed by tapping the bee icon. To advance, kids must spell each word correctly.
Learning Mode 2 challenges kids with jumbled letters, requiring them to rearrange them into the correct word. Like Mode 1, mistakes can be undone, and words can be replayed. Completing each level requires spelling all words correctly.
Competition Mode adds an extra challenge with jumbled letters and additional distracting letters. Kids are timed as they spell 10 random words per level, aiming to finish as quickly as possible. Their times contribute to a leaderboard visible on the main page, allowing for friendly competition.
Students can personalize their experience in the settings by entering their name, age, parish, and school, and choose their preferred mode. They can restart the game anytime from the settings page. For the best experience, wait for the app to finish calling out a letter before selecting the next one. Parents and students can capture and share their leaderboard results with teachers.
