In each round, the Hâkem (the declarer) chooses the trump suit. Every player receives 13 cards, and within each suit, the ranking from highest to lowest is: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
The Hâkem leads the first trick. Players must follow suit if possible; otherwise, they may play any card, including trumps. The trick is won by the highest trump card played, or if no trumps are involved, by the highest card of the led suit. The winner of each trick leads the next one. The first team to win 7 tricks in a hand earns 1 point.
