Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

Author : Emily Update:May 14,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a notable pricing difference between Japan and the rest of the world. This new gaming console will be available in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusive to Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available globally. The Japanese version will be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System version will be available for $449.99, reflecting a significant $100+ difference. This price variation is largely due to the current exchange rate between the yen and the U.S. dollar, which makes purchasing in Japan less attractive for tourists.

Residents of Japan will have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system will only be available within Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japan region. This version will exclusively support the Japanese language and will only offer software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For those interested in using the Switch 2 in other languages, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. More details on this version will be disclosed on April 4.
