The Chess Engines application is designed to enhance your chess experience by integrating with chess GUI applications on Android devices. This application does not feature a standalone graphical user interface; instead, it serves as a repository of powerful chess engines that can be used within compatible chess GUIs via the OEX (Open Exchange) protocol.
Included in this application are native executables for several renowned open-source chess engines:
Stockfish 17: The latest iteration of this highly respected engine, offering enhanced performance and analysis capabilities. Learn more at Stockfish 17.
Stockfish 16.1: A previous version of Stockfish, still highly competitive and useful for players looking for a slightly different analysis approach. Details available at Stockfish 16.1.
Clover 7.0: An innovative engine that provides unique insights into chess strategies. Explore it further at Clover 7.0.
To use these engines, you'll need a compatible chess GUI. We recommend the following apps:
Analyze your Chess (free version): A user-friendly interface that allows you to leverage the power of these engines. Available on the Google Play Store.
Analyze your Chess Pro (paid version): Offers additional features and an enhanced user experience for those who want to take their analysis to the next level. Find it on the Google Play Store.
To integrate these engines with your chosen GUI, follow these steps:
- Open your chess GUI application.
- Navigate to the Engine Management Screen.
- Access the Overflow Menu.
- Select "Install Open Exchange Engine."
- Choose the desired chess engine(s) to install and follow the on-screen instructions.
